Care in South Africa - Lauren Daniels
After an exciting flight from Johannesburg in what seemed like the smallest plane ever, I eventually touched down at Matsapha airport, South Africa. I was greeted by Anna, my project coordinator and whisked straight of to a hostel in the middle of a game reserve called Sondzella. Because I arrived on the weekend all the other volunteers were staying there for the weekend too. I ventured straight out and explored the game reserve with some of the other volunteers. |

Care in South Africa - Georgina Kate Adams
When I think about returning to my new home in southern Africa, I think of just three words: one-way-ticket. With its quaint but lively villages, hidden between statuesque mountains and framed by vivid blue skies, which turn to rich ochre sunsets, South Africa is quite simply: stunning. It is one of the last remaining absolute monarchies on the continent and clings tightly to the heritage of its culture. It is the ultimate rural African experience. |

Journalism and Care in South Africa - Carrie Upton
I went to South Africa at the end of July to go work in a pre-school in Steenburgh called Rainbow. I was going for a month and when I was heading onto the aeroplane a month seemed like such a long time and South Africa still seemed like so far away with the flight alone lasting 9 hours from London to Dubai, then a further 10 hours from Dubai to Cape Town.

Journalism and Care in South Africa - Hugh O'Connell
In July 2009 I spent a month in Cape Town, South Africa. I was drawn to South Africa because it has always been a country that has fascinated me and sure enough in the time I spent there it did. I worked on both journalism and care placements, two very different projects that allowed me to experience two very different sides of Cape Town..

Sports and Care in South Africa - Sean McEwen
Cape Town is one of the most stunning cities in the world. It is not just the weather or the scenic views, but the human spirit and the warmth of strangers that makes it so special.

Care & Community in South Africa - Emma Dewe
Although I was really excited about spending three months on a Care & Community project in South Africa, it was the first time I had travelled alone and when the time came for me to fly out there I was also feeling very nervous. However, as soon as I collected my bags at the airport in Nelspruit and stepped through the doors to be greeted by Hlengiwe, the Teaching & Projects Abroad leader, my fears disappeared.
